Every Journey…

…Starts with a single step. Well, this is a bit like that, sort of. I am an author of science fiction short stories, novellas, and flash fiction. Nothing really of note, nothing that got any traction. So now I am writing my first to be published novel. I have several on my hard drive, and I may rework them at a future date, but I decided I needed to do this “properly.”

I have an email, a web domain, a web site, and a Facebook account, all in my pen name now, and will be regularly engaging with those to share what I learn on my journey, the highs and lows, and updates on progress.

I have decided to declare that Shane Lodge is a pen name, as my real name is a nightmare to spell, other than that, everything you read on here will be true. It might not be the whole truth, but it will be the truth.

So when I took a vow of solitude until the pestilence had stopped ravaging our lands, otherwise known as the 2019 COVID lockdown in the UK, I found my writing mojo again, with podcasts like Tim Clare’s Death of a Thousand Cuts, and The Best seller experiment by Mark Stay and Mark Desvaux.

I started writing again for fun, and to improve my craft. Then I had ideas, oh so many ideas, for stories and characters that I had to empty my head of some of them. Some are being tweaked here and there into a sort of story, maybe. Others are in the interesting, but not sure pile in a scrivener project called Doodles.

One stood out though, one character and his story just seemed so interesting that before long, I had written a lot of different scenes with him, and was discovering his humour, his kindness, and his flaws as a genetically modified, technology augmented, 7 foot apex predator from an ice planet.

So I am writing his story, and I will share it with you along the way.
